Concept art and the fun part of game design

Not just concept art - in the last few days the game has received some serious rules-rewriting.

  • We've removed all saving rolls from the game.

  • We've redesigned the Last Stand system so counters are no longer needed to track anything.

  • We've simplified and redesigned Close Combat.

  • We've removed the ability to split fire. It slowed the game down too much. To engage more than one unit on a turn, you'll now need to use both actions.

  • We've clarified cover, cover for vehicles, and how to use transports.

  • We've removed weapon speed from the game as part of reworking the last stand system.

  • We've changed the goodshot rule so you no longer need to do mental maths; just roll a 6. Nobody ever remembered to use it in testing before - now it's not clunky at all.

  • We've redesigned the morale system. It's now super simple and fast.

Best of all, the rules are now shorter than they were, at four pages flat. I'm personally quite proud of that!
